desert. They live in the middle of thousands of acres of wildness, in Alpine, CA, on top of a mountain. But true to form, being the gentleman he is, while I am histarically calling for him, with a flash light, I saw him on the outside of the fence, looking at me, and he suddenly launched himself back across the fence and came to me. One of his unique traits I was soon to learn, when I got him back to Massachusetts, was an amazing ability to leap into the air like a deer! He loved jumping over my other dogs like they were nothing, during hikes, and Frisbee!
After returning to the East coast, Sav finished his bench title in lightening speed, under (among others) Mary Beth Arthur, and Sharon Sakson, as most judges were as spell bound by this very beautiful dog as we were. Phoebe put some of his wins on him, but I did most of it, myself. He was always shown with Phoebe in the win shots, as he adored me, and would look better, if I stood away and called to him. With Peter and Griff, it was as if we had always been close friends. We had been in constant contact with email and phone calls, but still, it took seeing each other in real time, to realize we really were good friends.
These two guys are unbelievable in their kindness, generosity and faith in me that I would do right by Sav. They were not disappointed.
His first litters made their debut at this show, and won classes in the Futurity, the regular classes, and placements in each class they were entered in.
There is enough to write an even longer article about all that happened over that year, including me emailing the Peter's as the end came near, and begging to buy him. What I haven't talked about is this sweet dog himself. He was one of a kind in every way. Sweet, gentle, beautiful inside and out, and
