3. What made you decide to get a whippet?
As I said earlier, I had shown Whippets for my friends, Jim & Dorothy Cave (Semaj) and Tuck Turner (Denroc)
Carla- I loved the Whippet from the time I was a small child, and my mother was showing other people’s dogs
4. Who was your first whippet?
The first Whippet I actually owned was my "Cinderella" dog - Can.Am.Ch. Nineveh Royal Denby - Lexie.
Carla – My First Whippet was, Ch. Denroc Lotus Elan, FCh. (Elan) She was a daughter of Lexie’s, that Tuck Turner bred.
Carla – I did show & finish this dog, and all of my dogs in Canada.
7. Do you think handlers help or hurt the breed?
Carla – Handlers are paid to win, and I think in general are looking for that “flashy” “showy” dog that they can win with, not necessarily the dog that best fits the standard

5. Was he/she a show dog and did they finish?
Lexie's was a Cinderella story in every sense of the tale. Lexie was given to Tuck Turner's niece - Tanya and Marc Fontaine, by her breeders who told March and Tanya "she would be a good race dog"! I happened to see her in an ex pen as a 5 month old puppy and asked who she belonged to. When I saw her a little later that day, I told Marc & Tanya if they were interested, I would be happy to show their 'race dog' - and so the story began! At 6 months of age she was BB over 2 BIS winning specials - the judge was Anne Rogers Clark. Lexie really had only a limited show career. The one year that we decided to 'campaign' her, we made the decision to show her at all the Whippet/Sighthound/Hound specialties in Canada. She was only shown about once a month. At the beginning of the campaign (1985), Marc and Tanya signed me on as a co-owner and Lexie lived the rest of her life with me - or Carla. Even today - 25 years later - Lexie is still the top specialty-winning bitch in Canadian history.
Carla – Elan finished her show championship, but really wasn’t one of the better animals that I have had the privilege of owning. She did get her FCh in one weekend.
6. Did you finish this dog yourself or have a handler?
In Canada, I was Lexie's only handler. Daniel Lockhart did show her in the U.S. for a time, but I started and finished her!
