9. Where did you come up with
your kennel name?
I will happily answer this last and least controversial question. I am an avid fan of the King Arthur Legend. I have probably read every book ever written on the subject of Arthur and Merlin, the wizard. Several of these included a map of the British Isles at this time in history. The portion of the sea between what is now southern England and France was named the Saxon Shore. Since this is a breed that originated in Britain, I felt Saxon Shore was an appropriate kennel name.
Thank you for this opportunity to share my story and express my opinions. Of course I realize that not everyone will agree with me. I respect everyone’s right to their own opinions. In this case, I was asked to tell how I see things, and I feel I did so with sincerity and candor.

8. Have you been involved in racing, lure coursing, obedience or other than showing with your Whippets?
I have the ultimate respect for those who concentrate on performance events. I do not understand the ongoing battle between the race and show people. We all love Whippets. In the end, I guess we disagree on what they should look like but that is a matter of opinion. I have chosen the show route and therefore breed for that look. I could just as easily have chosen the racing or lure coursing route (probably more fun). They are all equally Whippets in my eyes. Human beings wrote the standard; therefore human biases and interests were at play. Maybe it all stems from insecurity over who is right. Life has taught me that there is no one right or wrong. Believe and be proud of what you are accomplishing, but not at the cost of others that have chosen a path in which they equally believe. Race, lure coursing, show, obedience, and pet; we all share the enjoyment of this multi-talented breed called the Whippet.
