10. Which dog did you breed that you feel was your best whippet?
We bred Lexie only twice - first to Am.Ch. Saxon Shore Amber Waves, 'Jason', owned by Daniel Lockhart and then to Daniel's in-bred Jason son - Am.Ch. Saxon Shore Dream Master. These two breedings proved very successful for us and even today, we try to stay close to these bloodlines. I think the dog that we bred that most closely resembles our 'ideal' would be 'Brassy' - Can.Am.Ch. Nasusa Raise The Curtain, F.Ch.
Carla – I have 2 favourites: Brassy & Ripley – Can.Am.Ch. Nasusa That’s The Way It Is
In Whippets, I have judged the Canadian National, AWC Western, San Diego Whippet specialty and Whippet specialties in Australia and New Zealand. I also judged the first ever all-Hound specialty in the U.S. I have judged in Canada, U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Finland and Japan.
11. Is there any dog or bitch, not owned or bred by you that you feel is an outstanding representative of the breed? Who? Why?
Many - I would not like to single out any - because I do not want to forget someone!
Carla – Wow! There are just too many to mention, and some that I have only seen in pictures.
12. Have you been involved in racing, lure coursing, obedience or other than Showing with your whippets?
Yes - we have been active in lure coursing. While I do not expect my dogs to be the fastest or best runners, I really do like to see that they still have the instinct to do what they were originally bred for - but they must also be beautiful!! I admire anyone who can do obedience well with a Whippet -- that is not the breed's strongest field - and I have never been that brave!!
Carla - ditto
13. Do you judge and if so when did you first get your judges license? For which breed?
Yes - I started judging in 1991 with half of the Hound Group. I am now approved by the Canadian Kennel Club to judge all breeds.
Carla – no I do not judge. Have lots of friends trying to encourage me to judge, but not as of yet.
14. What are the highlights of your judging career?
