Friday, August 31 was the Annual Fun Match judged by Mary Magee (Saesi Whippets). Gail Wegner was the fun match Chairperson. There was a record pre-entry of 58 Whippets and 4 non-Whippet pets that could not be left at home. Best Puppy in Match was Marial’s Mequon. Best Adult and Best in Match was Surrey Hill’s Casting the Runes, FCh, TRP, OTR, CR. The non-whippet class was won by Judy Corbett’s English Cocker Spaniel, “Frank.”.

Friday canine photographer extraordinaire Laurie Erickson held photo sessions for those wanting portraits of their Whippets. Laurie and Ule James took pictures throughout the weekend.
Saturday, September 1 was the National event with an entry of 5 puppies, 52 adults and 4 legends. Twenty-four Whippets competed in the conformation competition under Judge Karen Lee following the racing. The weather was once again beautiful with clear skies and moderate temperatures. When the day’s competition was over the winners were:
High Point Puppy was “Sly” Wegner’s On The Sly owned by Connie Austin and Ule James. High Score Adult was “Charlotte” Cogshalls Spider Lily of Coswin owned by Fred and Gina Luehrs. Earning 6 ARX points to finish his ARX was “Henry” Comet’s Rocky Mountan News owned by Lisa Costello. Earning the 2 ARX points to finish his ARX and DPCX title was Ch. Surrey Hill’s Galafrey co-owned by Kristen Fredericks and Karen Lee. First in conformation was Ch. Bayleafs Black Mustard owned by Barbara and Fran Hearley. Placing 4th in conformation but earning credit for the win was “Simmer” Warburton WW Southern Skies owned by Laurie Erickson and Patience Renzulli.
